Are your kittens purebred Maine Coons?

Yes! Every one of our breeding cats is a purebred Maine Coon. Each cat is registered with The International Cat Association (TICA) and has at least a five generation pedigree.

How do I buy a Maine Coon kitten from Heritage Springs?

The first step in adopting a Maine Coon kitten from Heritage Springs is to fill out the kitten application. Once approved, you will receive an email explaining the next steps in the process and a text message inviting you to join our exclusive VIP Facebook Group for approved kitten applicants.

Why are there “reserved” kittens on your Available Kittens page?

Reserved kittens are kittens that are still in our cattery because they are too young to go home, but they have been spoken for. They are still on the Available Kittens page in case the new owner has a change in circumstances and they choose not to take ownership of their kitten. This does not happen often, but it does happen. Once the kitten goes home, they will be marked as “sold” and will be removed from the Available Kittens page.

Do you sell adult Maine Coon cats?

Sometimes we have adult Maine Coon cats that need a new home. These could be retirees from our breeding program or kittens we kept back for observation who ended up not being selected for our program for one reason or another. If you are interested in an adult cat, please fill out a kitten application and let us know you are looking for an adult cat. You will be added to our adult cat waiting list. Re-homing fees apply.

Are your kittens healthy?

Every cat who is brought into our cattery is first quarantined while they undergo a series of health tests. Once complete, they are evaluated by our veterinarian before they are introduced to the rest of our cats. Then each cat is genetically screened for over 40 genetic diseases to ensure they are not carriers of any of them before they are selected for our breeding program.

Because Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is so prevalent among Maine Coons, all of our breeding cats, in addition to being cleared from the gene that contributes to the development of HCM are also screened annually by a board-certified cardiologist.

We take every precaution to ensure our cats produce the healthiest kittens possible. While it is impossible to guarantee kittens will live their entire lives without illness, we do our absolute best to ensure they are off to a great start! We are so confident in our kittens that we offer a 2 year health guarantee as well.

In addition to all this, Heritage Springs gives all new kitten owners a free month of Trupanion Health Insurance for their new kitten. This offer can be activated between 24 hours prior to obtaining the kitten (recommended) to 24 hours after bringing their kitten home. Please look at the Trupanion website to understand what is covered, and talk to a Trupanion representative if you have any questions. We strongly suggest you take advantage of the free trial!

How much do your Maine Coon kittens cost?

Our standard Maine Coon kittens cost between $3,800 and $4,500. Polydactyl Maine Coons cost between $4,500-$5,500. Heritage Springs Maine Coons are priced individually when they are seven weeks old. During their first few weeks, we watch their development closely. If kittens exhibit qualities of a show cat, that will be noted, however we do not guarantee they will win at shows.

Are deposits refundable?

No. Deposits are not refundable. If, your circumstances change and you are unable to take ownership of your kitten, you may choose to put the amount you paid toward a future kitten.

Do you deliver?

Yes! We offer delivery. The cost of delivery depends on where you are located. Your kitten may need a health certificate and other documentation depending on where it is going, but we will work with you individually to help you figure out all of those details.

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes. We offer three discounts:

The first discount is for purchasing multiple kittens at the same time (either from the same litter or two separate litters that are born close to the same time.) This discount is 10% off the price of two kittens. In order to take advantage of this discount, both kittens must be picked up or shipped on the same date.

The second discount is for returning customers. Returning customers receive $200 off future kitten purchases. If returning customers choose to purchase two kittens at the same time, they may qualify for both discounts.

The third discount is for referring a customer to us who purchases a kitten. For each referral, we will either discount a kitten you are currently or purchasing by $100 or you will receive a $100 credit toward the purchase of a future kitten.

What kind of personality do Maine Coons have?

Every cat is unique, but Maine Coons are known as the Gentle Giants of the animal kingdom. They generally have sweet, laid back temperaments, and are known for being social and friendly cats. The Maine Coons at Heritage Springs are well-socialized with children, adults, cats, and dogs so they should do well in just about any type of home.

What do you feed Maine Coon kittens?

Maine Coons are a slow-growing breed and should be fed only kitten food until they are 15 months old. The best diet for Maine Coon kittens is to feed a can of high-quality wet kitten food in the morning and at night. Cats do not have the same thirst receptors that humans do so feeding them wet food ensures they get enough water in their diet. In addition to the morning and evening meal, a high protein dry kitten food should be made available to them at all times.

Will my kitten be spayed or neutered before it comes home?

Maine Coons are a slow growing breed, and while opinions do vary, after careful research and consultation with my veterinarian, I have opted to allow kittens to go home and grow a bit more before getting spayed or neutered. I believe this gives them the best start at life and sturdier bone structure. It is required by contract that they be spayed or neutered no later than 10 months of age. Once accomplished, the buyer will receive the paperwork enabling the kitten to be registered.
